Risk assessment – avoiding the pitfalls

Successfully assess and manage health and safety risks in the workplace

Date
26 June 2024

Course

Summary

Failing to adequately assess and control health and safety risks in the workplace is not only hazardous for your employees and reputation, but it could also land your business in financial hot water. In 2018/2019, the average health and safety fine rose to £150,000, the highest it’s ever been.

Many organisations struggle to create suitable and sufficient risk assessments, record significant findings and take action to reduce risk, as required by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

Our one-day course, ‘Risk assessment – avoiding the pitfalls’, provides an up-to-date approach to developing an effective risk assessment process.

It considers how the courts have clarified concepts such as ‘reasonably foreseeable risk’, which risks need to be assessed in more detail, the importance of risk reduction and what to do when things go wrong.
