Eligibility
This qualification is suitable if you manage occupational safety and health (OSH) policy, procedures and practice, or you're a member of a senior leadership team or report directly to senior leaders.
You must be aged 19 or above and:
- have a Level 3 OSH qualification, or
- have a minimum of two years' relevant OSH experience
- are an active IOSH member (all grades qualify)
- meet our English criteria, which you can review during the sign-up process.
What you will learn
You'll learn the skills and knowledge needed to lead on the development of health, safety and wellbeing within workplaces. The focus is on the application of best practice in occupational safety and health to improve business performance.
The IOSH Level 6 Diploma consists of three units.
- Advanced OSH management principles in organisations.
- OSH integration within an organisation.
- Leading and influencing in OSH.
You'll be assessed through three assignments that include a combination of reports and presentations. Tasks are based on your current workplace. This means you and your employer will benefit from your work on the Diploma straight away.
If you don't have a current workplace, it may be possible to base these tasks on a volunteer role or place of study, such as a college or university. Please talk to our customer service team to find out more.
Your membership journey
The Diploma offers a route to IOSH Certified membership and you're also eligible for membership of the Institute of Leadership at a discounted rate.
This provides learners with additional professional recognition of their learning experience and ongoing commitment to effective leadership, inspiring others to achieve excellence.
Where to study
We approve study centres to deliver this qualification. We're always keen to offer more choice to our learners and welcome applications from education providers to become a study centre.
IOSH as an awarding organisation
IOSH is recognised as an awarding organisation (AO) in England by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual). The AO is a part of the IOSH charity but is managed and administered by a separate team to further IOSH's charitable objects. It is responsible for:
- designing, developing and awarding its regulated qualifications
- accrediting study centres to deliver its qualifications.
