Recognising innovative projects that have produced a practical solution to an occupational health and safety problem in the Railway Industry.
International IOSH Railway Group Award 2019
Improvements in Health & Safety
Sponsored by the IOSH Railway Group, the 2019 International IOSH Railway Group Awards seeks to recognise innovative projects both inside and outside of the UK that have produced a practical solution to, and made a positive impact on, an occupational health and safety problem in the Railway Industry. Our aim again is to raise the importance of railway safety, encourage continuous improvement, share learning, and promote success.
This year we will continue to focus on initiatives which support the themes in the GB rail industry strategy, ‘Leading Health and Safety on Britain’s Railways’. The strategy has 12 Priority risk themes and 9 capability areas to improve railway safety.
Who can enter?
Anyone involved in the railway sector both inside and outside the UK can enter for the award, either as an individual or as a team. You do not even have to be an IOSH member to participate.
Your project must be original and unpublished, and you’ll need to make sure you have your employer’s approval for sending in your entry. The intellectual property rights of the project remain with you or your employer. Previous entries may be resubmitted.
What could you win?
The IOSH Railway Group will make a contribution towards the travel of two people from the winning organisation to attend the Rail Industry Annual Conference in, Manchester, on 19 November 2019.
Free conference places and up two nights of accommodation will also be provided. Longer stays and flexibility on travel dates are possible, at the individuals' own cost. In addition, you will be offered a prestigious platform to receive a certificate and trophy for your award and raise your organisation's profile, with the opportunity to deliver a 15-minute presentation on your entry.
Who are the judges?
Entries will be judged by representatives from IOSH, the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) and the IOSH Railway Group.
The judges' decision is final.
