Consultancy - letter from the Chair

July 2019

Taking the Plunge

July saw me making a three-metre jump into a practice pool as part of an offshore experience arranged by IOSH’s Central Lancs District.  The last time I felt so apprehensive was when I took the plunge and set up my own consultancy in 2003.  If you’re considering ‘taking the plunge’ into consultancy you should read our recent article on this very topic – access here.

There have been some changes within the Consultancy Group Committee with Ray Bone and Tony Boyle reaching the end of their term.  On behalf of the committee I would like to thank them both for their time and hard work in supporting the Consultancy Group and its members.  They will be a tough act to follow and this challenge has been given to our latest addition, Matthew Jackson.  As Matthew is based in Dubai, he will be able to give the committee a good insight into working as a consultant outside of the UK.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank DAC Beachcroft and Matthew Breakell for hosting our recent event in Manchester covering ‘Investigating a major incident - a legal perspective’.  This was a well-received event which we hope to repeat.

We always want to hear from you so, if you have any feedback/comments/suggestions, please email me on:
