Aviation and Aerospace Group - letter from the Chair

February 2019

Since my last update in December time has flown by and its opportune to give you an update on the group’s activity. Its certainly been a busy month or so…

Our new network pages are now up and running. Please add them to your favourites if you’ve not already done so. I hope you’ll agree its worth the wait!

On these new pages you’ll find details of our upcoming events in Manchester. Places are limited on this event, so book early.  The annual conference on 12 June will be added shortly. The Humberside airport: Shift work and site tour on 25th September 2019 will be available in Q2.

In addition, we have established an IOSH AAG LinkedIn and Twitter page. You will see regular communications being posted on these. Please follow the pages if you have not already had the chance to do so. In addition, please also feel free to raise questions/topics for discussion or tag the pages as you feel appropriate.

As mentioned in my last update we have identified six focus areas for the upcoming years and our activity will largely be based around these:

  1. Health/Wellbeing
  2. Risk assessments/Investigation
  3. Emerging technology
  4. Ground handling
  5. Engineering – Production/Manufacturing/Design etc.
  6. Safe working practices

You’ll find we’ve started to post links and material that we believe you’ll find useful under these headings. For example, under health and wellbeing you’ll find training material that you can integrate into your management and/or employee training. This is all available on the industry resources page. In addition, well be posting our first webinar later this year!

I’ll be at both the Manchester event and our annual conference, so I hope to meet you or catch up with you over the coming months. In the meantime, if there is anything you wish to discuss or get involved with please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,
Hannah Smith
