South Wales Branch - letter from the Chair

As Chairman of the South Wales branch I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with my committee and the branch as a whole to deliver effective and enjoyable member opportunities. Effective in that we recognise that many of our members want to progress their membership standing within IOSH, as well as see the branch support their occupational safety and health journey, in and out of work. Enjoyable, because we want you to get value and benefit from your membership as a whole and be part of a branch that makes you feel that it is rewarding to be involved through participating at meetings and networking with fellow members.

We will continue to deliver a diverse programme representing the objectives of IOSH Work 2022 programme along with HSE plans and objectives. A key feature of our calendar will be to continue offering events, both stand alone and combined within the general programme, which are targeted to develop and progress membership within the branch.

We recognise that these are changing and challenging times, and we hope that as a branch we will provide opportunities for more effective dialogue and networking, offering you the opportunity to be more closely in touch with progress at IOSH, in shaping the health and safety agenda for us all, as well as recognising a local picture.

If you are new to the branch please take note of the venues and times of events particularly where we collaborate with fellow South Wales Safety Groups Alliance members. Our shared events are excellent opportunities for us to network and engage on a wider agenda and we encourage you to attend and participate.

As committee members we look forward to welcoming you to each meeting but if you can’t attend please follow us on social media and post questions and comments where you can and we will do our best to respond to you promptly and positively.

Finally, if you are a new member attending your first meeting please make yourself known to a member of the committee,  as we hope that it will be the first of many, though we know sometimes it can be daunting.
