Mid Shires Chair Monthly Message – November
My thanks to Vice Chair, Tom Lane, for introducing another busy evening at our October Branch Meeting and my thanks to everyone who attended. A big thanks also to Steve Heath, Director of Mental Health in Business, who gave a presentation on Mental Health in the Workplace. Mental Health in Business also offered members free resources providing tips for improving mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Our next meeting, on the 14th November, will be regarding Design Risk Management. The presentation will be given by Heather McQueen Pearson, Health and Safety Manager at Abbey Construction Consultants Ltd. Heather specialises in Health and Safety Consultancy, CDM and Design Risk Management as well as offering a comprehensive training provision.
Heather will discuss the regulatory framework and the requirements of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and Design Risk Management.
Members attending the session will gain an insight into the roles and responsibilities of duty holders under the regulations as well as DRM and the process of identifying significant risks with discussion of practical aids to Designers.
We can confirm the next annual Mid Shires seminar will be on the 19th March 2020 and the topic is “Mental Health – It’s the mind that matters” and we are really pleased to announce that our Chair for the day is Jonathan Hughes, IOSH Vice President.
A quick reminder that our monthly Branch Meetings are held at:
The Draycote Hotel
Please don’t use the postcode in your SAT NAV it will send you somewhere completely different! The hotel is directly off the A45 London Road.
The doors will open at 6pm, tea/coffee and biscuits will be available with time for networking until 6.30pm. The meeting will start at 6.30pm and finish at 8pm.
The meetings are held on the evening of the second Thursday of the month (apart from the summer break in August).
We also offer an informal 30-minute CPD/IPD round table discussion before the Branch meeting, allowing members to share their experiences and provide support for each other. If you could notify firstname.lastname@example.org in advance that you would like to take part in the discussion, we will ensure a Mid Shires committee member is available to chair the meeting.
We always aim to provide you, the members, with the topics that you wish us to cover and if you have a specific question that you would like some advice on you can always take advantage of our Q&A session at the start of each meeting.
If you’re new to our meetings, you’re especially welcome and we hope that you’ll enjoy our friendly environment. Whether you’re a visitor or regular attendee at our branch activities, we thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you.
